2012 BMW X5

A pioneer in the luxury SUV segment, in 2012 BMW X5 continues to prove its value, moving forward for the new model year with minimal updates. Given the nice style, the space consists of 5 seats and interior luxury and charming.

Styled with BMW's brand aesthetics up front, but with a more masculine appeal than most of the range, the proportion of chunky X5 that met with flowing lines to give the appearance of a handsome conservative. In the same story, with a restrained style that will appeal to different buyers. A number of choices of colors and materials allows customization for specific tastes.

While the X5 most likely fly under the radar styling, it shines in performance. Under the hood of the base model is a twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine rated at 300 horsepower and 23 mpg highway. The base engine, dubbed xDrive35i in BMW, is available in three trim packages: base, Premium, and Sport Activity. More on them later.

A turbocharged diesel X5 xDrive35d is available in models for both 265 horsepower and 26 mpg highway, although the price is relatively more command over standard gasoline models. The most powerful standard X5 xDrive50i is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 rated at 400 horsepower and 20 mpg highway, but provide thrilling acceleration, especially for an SUV. A very highly tuned version of the same engine available in the X5 M, rated at 555 horsepower and enhanced with surprisingly good suspension setup.

Speaking of thrills, handling is surprisingly X5 sport sedan-like, although the size and bulk. Even in base form, rapid acceleration, but in all models, it does not mean fear - they mean fun. In the X5 M, the high-performance version of the X5, you have a track-ready SUV. It may not make sense, but once you drive one. Unfortunately, it costs roughly double the base X5.

In the X5, there is comfort to spare despite sporty handling. The quality is very good ride and acceptable way off-road. Similarly, the material is very good quality, with space for up to seven passengers, though the rear seat occupants require minor. Storage and cargo space, while not overwhelming, is more than enough.

Score in 2012 BMW X5 IIHS top marks of "good" in front and side impact crash tests. The NHTSA has not fully assessed X5 2012, but did not give it 4 out of 5 stars in the rollover resistance score. Standard safety equipment includes stability and traction control, a complete advanced airbags, all-wheel drive, X5 and stability inherent in a dynamic maneuver all improve safety as well.

As for entertainment and comfort features, the X5 has a long list of equipment available, including iDrive-based navigation and infotainment system, 10-way power adjustable front seats, push-button start, automatic climate control, parking distance sensors, HD radio, and iPod connectivity plus USB and more.
